■ RAMSBOTTOM United made a dream start as they scored twice inside the first 13 minutes from inviting crosses that resulted in headed goals, first from Jamie Rother and then Hugo Rodriguez.
However, the Rams were caught out themselves by a Widnes move that ended in Greg McCaragher having the simplest of tap-ins to reduce the arrears.
Just before half-time, the home team extended their lead with another headed goal, this time from John Murphy.
