LUKE Duffy’s first half strike proved the winner as Macclesfield secured another three points against Basford United.
The Silkmen had plenty of chances to extend their lead over the course of 90 minutes but weren’t at their clinical best.
The first real chance of the game fell the way of D’Mani Mellor who fired marginally wide from John Rooney’s short free-kick. It was Duffy who gave the league leaders the lead just after the half-hour as the ball deflected to the winger whose first-time shot beat Saul Deeney.
