■ A RUTHLESS Widnes cemented their spot at the top of the NPL West with a win over Stalybridge Celtic.
Widnes were reduced to ten men with Niall Battersby receiving a straight red card for his tackle. Widnes manager Michael Ellison also saw red for his reaction to the decision.
Celtic couldn’t make the most of the advantage, going close on several occasions, but standout player Mark Halstead was dominant in the net.
