■ MALDON & Tiptree dealt a blow to Brentwood’s title charge with a statement victory yesterday afternoon.
Within ten minutes, Melvin Minter was forced into a fine point-blank range to deny Joe Paxman. The hosts made the breakthrough in stunning fashion with 13 minutes gone. Amine Sassi took aim from 25 yards out and hammered past Minter. Brentwood started the second half well, but didn’t overly trouble Elliot Justham in the Maldon goal. Lyle Della-Verde was denied by a good save from the feet of the Maldon keeper.
