ROONEY HAS THE SILKMEN SEEKING A LEAGUE HIGH

JOHN ROONEY’S late winner completed champions Macclesfield’s comeback yesterday.
After a 20-minute spell with little action, it was the visitors who struck first as David Symington’s free-kick found its way in off the underside of the crossbar.
It was a nightmare spell for the hosts as Workington doubled their lead within a minute, a defensive error allowing Jamie Allen to slot into an empty net.
The Silkmen did find a way back as a goalmouth scramble saw Laurent Mendy net his third goal in four games.
