Robins’ late charge ruined

FC UNITED fought off a spirited comeback from 10-man Ilkeston Town to grind out a 2-1 win at rainy Broadhurst Park. The hosts took the first-half initiative, Ajay Weston forcing Alfie Roberts to tip a cross-shot into the air inside the first five minutes.
Roberts was called upon three minutes later to swat away Matthew Grivosti’s strike.
Down the other end, Dan Atherton saved from Rodney Youmbi but it was no shock when FC led through Adam Le Fondre on 22 minutes, an over-the-top ball fed the marksman who finished with aplomb.
