DIDCOT TOWN joint-bosses Ian Concannon and Jamie Heapy have ended their long association with the club after resigning on Tuesday night.

Concannon scored 284 times for the Railwaymen as a player while Heapy made over 850 appearances for the club. Both were involved in the 2005 FA Vase victory over AFC Sudbury at White Hart Lane.

During their two years in charge of Didcot, the pair took the club to the verge of the play-offs last term and made the FA Cup first round for the first time ever this season before losing to Exeter City.

But the club were shocked when the joint-managers stepped down following the victory. Andy Ballard has taken over in a caretaker role, assisted in the short-term by Andy Sinnott.

A club statement read: “Didcot Town FC would like to extend an enormous thank you to both Ian Concannon and Jamie Heapy for their tremendous commitment to the club during their tenure at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium.

“They have taken DTFC to new heights in their two years in senior management and I’m sure that this decision was not taken lightly by either Ian or Jamie.

“All at Didcot Town FC wish them both the best in their new ventures wherever that takes them, but they leave with the knowledge that they will both be welcome back at any time.”

Concannon added: “I want to say a huge thanks to everyone at Didcot Town for a wonderful two years in charge. It’s with a heavy heart I have to stand down as joint-manager.

“The players have been an absolute pleasure to manage. Talented, honest and a joy to manage. The club is in my DNA and will always be a huge part of my life. The club has many wonderful and hardworking people and will go from strength to strength.”
