FORMER Bitton boss Paul Britton has been named as the new manager of Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West club Yate Town.

Also a former Longwell Green Sports manager and Bristol Rovers youth coach, Britton – who is known as Polly – holds a UEFA B Licence.

He replaces Dean Edwards who had served as interim player-boss following Craig Laird’s departure back in March.

Yate’s last game of the season is on Saturday at Wimborne Town after an inconsistent campaign following a sixth-placed finish last term.

A club statement read: “Yate Town chairman Colin Pick emphasised the need to get back to basics, and Polly was chosen as the correct person to take the club forward in a way where he can build upon the tremendous success our U18s have achieved so far this season.

“Pick also stated the importance of December 2018 in Yate’s future by which we need to save up funds for the purchase of Lodge Road stadium.”
