SLOUGH TOWN celebrated the opening of their new Arbour Park home in the best way possible with victory on their return to the town.

The Rebels had been in exile for 13 years after being kicked out of their Wexham Park Stadium due to financial disagreements.

They hosted Hayes & Yeading, a club who returned home themselves last month, in front of a packed crowd of 1,401.

Despite going behind to a Lloyd Macklin goal, the Rebels fought back and marked their return with three points thanks to  strikes from Lee Barney and James Dobson.

The result took Slough up to second in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier with the Rebels picking up five wins from their opening seven games.

Joint-boss Neil Baker tweeted: “Well that was a pretty special day, only just finished going through all the tweets etc, wonderful support, let’s hope it continues!

“Would like to thank Slough Council for all the help yesterday, and for giving us this opportunity, must have been great for them to see it full.”

Fellow manager Jon Underwood added: “What a day! That win was for the chairman (Steve Easterbrook) who made it all possible and the fans who were fantastic today, thanks so much for your support!”
