ASHTON IN ALLEGED REF RACISM STORM

ASHTON TOWNhave suspended a player after last Saturday’s league game was abandoned after the referee claimed he was racially abused.
A halt to the Hallmark Security North West Counties Division One North game against Cleator Moor Celtic was called in the 35th minute when the player was given a red card for foul and/or abusive language, and the referee said that the remarks made had racist connotations.
