NEWCASTLE battled to a goalless draw at Bootle, in spite of Tom Thorley’s second-half dismissal at the Berry Street Garage Stadium.
Neil Baker’s men went closest to scoring when Jack Sherratt’s blast from distance rattled a post and Tom Jones couldn’t convert the rebound.
Thorley was sent offas punishment for his foul on sub Kyle Campbell – denying the Bucks a goal-scoring opportunity – and Castle custodian Joe Slinn saved smartly from Sean Williams’ resulting free-kick.
