■ CITY of Liverpool’s time in the Northern Premier League came to an end as they were relegated thanks to defeat at Newcastle Town.
They were behind after three minutes when Tommy van der Laan smashed the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of Conor Robson’s goal.
Xenon Bahula was unlucky to not bring the visitors level just after the restart when his effort kissed a post, but Newcastle deservedly doubled the lead after 54 minutes when Ty Webster found the top right-hand corner.
