HEDNESFORD Town played their final league game at Keys Park, knowing a win over Runcorn Linnets and a Widnes defeat would clinch the title.
The game began at a frenetic pace, with Dom McHale going close in the first minute. A defensive mix-up allowed Luke Wall a shot, but Tony Breeden saved well.
A melee broke out following a foul by Runcorn’s Jacques Welsh, who was booked. Jake Jervis missed a good chance, while McHale forced more saves from Bayleigh Passant before the game went flat.
