■ STALYBRIDGE Celtic ended the season unbeaten in seven league games as they eased past relegated City of Liverpool.
The home side missed a penalty from Jack Irlam after 11 minutes before applying heavy pressure at the visitors’ goal. They were eventually rewarded when Benni Smales finished off a neat move to slot the ball home after 18 minutes.
Stalybridge continued to attack but had to wait until added time of the first half for their second, Lewis Rawsthorn’s 25-yard free-kick a delight for those inside Bower Fold.
