■WITH nothing but pride WITH nothing but pride on the line, Stafford Rangers and Clitheroe played out a hard-fought contest where defences ruled supreme.
Clear chances were rare, but what few openings there were fell to the home side, with Stafford’s keeper Leon Phillips in outstanding form throughout. After 17 minutes, Jacob Hanson crossed for Dean Windass but Phillips saved brilliantly at point-blank range.
After 35 minutes, a training ground corner by Clitheroe saw a low delivery elude the defenders, with Phillips again denying Windass...
