CLITHEROE came out on top against Congleton in this battle of the strugglers.
The visitors had a fantastic opportunity to open the scoring when Max McCarthy went through on goal only to be denied by an excellent Zac Hadi tackle.
Congleton had the chance to take the lead themselves before the half ended, but Josh Briggs’ powerful shot was saved by Dave Parton.
The Blues took the lead early in the second half, however, via a well-placed Ben Woods free kick that flew into the top corner.
