Match Preview: Grimsby Borough v Stockton Town (Saturday, 3pm)

Stockton Town visit Grimsby Borough on Saturday on the back of three consecutive wins in the Northern Premier League Division One East.

Stockton have picked up 12 points from their last six games, and they face a Grimsby side who also won their last match, and have collected 10 points from the last possible 18.

With 57 goals in 27 games so far this season, Stockton are the league’s highest scorers with 2.1 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 21 goals at a rate of 0.8 per game.

Grimsby, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.4 goals per game.

Town are top of the table after 27 games, of which they have won 17 and drawn seven, earning 58 points.

Borough are nine places behind the visitors in 10th, with 11 wins and four draws putting them on 37 points.

In the last three years, Grimsby and Stockton have played each other on three occasions. Stockton won one of them and they drew the other.

Their last meeting was on October 14, when Stockton won 3-0 at home.

Grimsby’s last match was on February 20, a 3-1 win against Liversedge.

Stockton beat Ashington AFC 2-0 last time out, on February 24.
