Widnes sealed the title and promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division with a narrow victory over Trafford.
Substitute Harry McGee’s goal midway through the second half lifted the roof off the DCBL Stadium as Widnes secured a third promotion in eight years.
Trafford made a real game of it, however, and should have taken a first-half lead.
Rio Clegg got the better of Brendan O’Brien down the flank and advanced on goal, beating goalkeeper Mark Halstead, but his poked effort rolled agonisingly wide of the far post.
