Torquay United sign experienced striker Shaun Harrad

have signed veteran striker Shaun Harrad and have extended Andre Wright's loan until the end of the season.

Harrad, 31, has plenty of experience with the likes of Burton Albion and and finished last season on loan at Cheltenham Town.

He has spent most of this season with North side , making 17 appearances in which he failed to score.

That's not put off Torquay player-boss , however, who reckons Harrad is a “real catch” for the National League strugglers.

“We've signed a proven player,” he said. “I've known him since his days coming through the ranks at Notts County and have always kept track of him.

“One look at his scoring record and the number of games that he has played over the years will tell you we have a real catch on our hands.

“Things maybe have not gone so well for him at Worcester this season but that only adds to the appeal as I have a good, experienced player on my hands with a point to prove.

“He'll be with us for the rest of the season and will be available for Tuesday's game against .”

That game was unfortunately postponed but the Gulls were given more positive news with Wright staying until the end of the campaign.

The young forward has impressed since joining on loan from West Bromwich Albion, scoring a double against Chesham in the as well as netting against and Forest Green.

“We've seen a great improvement in Andre since he's been at the club,” added Nicholson.

“He's scored some important goals and led the line well. Now that we have a few reinforcements to back him up I think he'll shine even more.

“We're delighted to have him back and to have some real competition up front. That's only going to make us stronger and the rest of the forwards better players.”
