Chester skipper Luke George was handed eight-game ban for biting Gateshead’s Reece Styche

THE Association have revealed that captain Luke George received his eight-match ban for biting striker Reece Styche on the thigh.

George was charged with violent conduct following an incident in the opening game against Gateshead on August 6, which the Heed won 3-0.

He was given an eight-game ban, which was reduced to six on appeal, but the exact cause for the suspension was unknown until the written reasons were released by the FA this week.

An Independent Regulatory Commission decided that, at a paper hearing, the injury sustained by Styche was ‘on the balance of probability', the result of a bite from George.

The Chester skipper denied biting the former Kidderminster and Forest Green forward, but the Commission could see via a photo that a clear markw as left on Styche's upper leg, which looked like teeth marks.

In conclusion, the Commission said: “Having considered all of the evidence before it, written, pictorial and video, the Commission members were unanimous that, on the balance of probability, Mr. George had bitten Mr. Styche on his upper thigh.”

Alongside the ban, midfielder George, formerly of , was also fined £500 and warned as to his future conduct.

He has already sat out two games of his suspension and will be able to return for the United clash on November 29.
