Kevin Nicholson ‘disgusted’ by Torquay United’s performance as he searches for reinforcements

boss says changes must be made after he was left “disgusted” by his side's performance at on Saturday.

The Gulls were comfortably beaten 2-0 at Nethermoor, a result that leaves them sitting just two points and two places above the relegation zone.

Torquay have now lost their last three league games and Nicholson refused to hold back after Saturday's defeat.

Jordan Preston and Jake Cassidy scored inside the first 20 minutes for the Lions and even a missed penalty couldn't spark a Torquay revival.

Frustrated Nicholson said: “I'm absolutely disgusted with the first half and really feel let down by the group of players, completely let down by a group that I am backing.

“The first half was abysmal. I struggle for words to say how poor we were in the first half. That was nothing to do with anything except… stage fright? A lack of desire? A lack of passion? I can only say that I just feel totally, totally let down by the group.

‘They have got to go away and look at themselves. Not their mate, not who they think might be playing well or not be. They've got to look at themselves. They're a good group of lads but they got totally physically dominated by a side in the first half.

“I came here really confident. I came here really confident with what I had seen in the week, and I leave with a lot more questions than what I had when I came.

“Obviously we have got to make changes; obviously we have got to bring some reinforcements in. We worked very hard in the two weeks to do that, unfortunately a few fell through at the last minute.”
