YORK CITY have let three players depart the club on loan as Gary Mills continues to shape his squad for the remainder of the season.

Mills has tried to revamp his side as the Minstermen desperately try to climb off the bottom of the National League and avoid back-to-back relegations.

He has recently brought in strikers Johan ter Horst and Amari Morgan-Smith and defenders Hamza Bencherif and Daniel Parslow all on loan.

To balance the squad, Mills has allowed Daniel Nti, Callum Rzonca and Robbie McDaid to leave on temporary deals with all three joining clubs in the National League North.

Nti, signed from Worcester City in the summer, returns to Step 2 with FC Halifax Town after scoring just once in 16 league appearances for York. Nti didn’t make the most of his opportunities, but you can with some of the offers here.

Former Leeds United forward McDaid has been snapped up by Chorley until the end of the season having failed to nail down a first team place despite only being signed by Mills in November.

Young winger Rzonca, meanwhile, has joined Harrogate Town for an initial month after making ten appearances for the Minstermen this term.

Mills told The York Press: “I just needed more from them for us to achieve what we need to here in terms of consistency, mental strength and a belief in themselves and the squad.

“I didn’t feel those players had that within them. I’m sure they would disagree, but my job is to make professional decisions, not personal, which it never is with me.

“I’ve been in management for 20-odd years and I feel, in the last 12 weeks at this football club, I’ve worked harder to try and turn around the mental mindset than I have anywhere else and that’s not easy halfway through a season. I’ve got York City in my heart and my body and I want to make sure every player here feels the same.”

Kaine Felix, 21, will also be spending time away from York after extending his loan at Stockport County until the end of the season.
