MARTIN ALLEN has left National League side Eastleigh after less than three months in charge of the Hampshire club.
Allen left League Two side Barnet to replace Ronnie Moore as boss of the Spitfires at the start of December with the club’s play-off hopes fading.
The 51-year-old led the Bees to the Conference title in the 2014-15 season in his fourth spell in charge of the London club with Eastleigh hoping he could do the same for them.
However, Allen was unable to turn the club’s fortunes around and Tuesday night’s defeat to Macclesfield Town – their third home reverse in a week – was his last in charge.
The Spitfires are now 15th in the table and 14 points adrift of the top five despite having one of the biggest budgets in the National League.
Allen recently said he couldn’t “work out” why his side had continued to underachieve – especially at home where they remain winless since October 25.
The former Brentford manager departs Eastleigh having won just two of his games in charge and leaves the Spitfires searching for their fourth manager of the season.
A club statement read: “Eastleigh Football Club can today confirm that following the club’s home reverse to Macclesfield Town on Tuesday evening, a resultant meeting with first team manager Martin Allen has this morning seen his contract terminated with immediate effect.
“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin for his efforts during his time with the club and wish him well for the future.”
