Hedge Joins The Mariners After U’s Exit

GOALKEEPER Jonathan Hedge has left Cambridge United and joined Grimsby Town.

The 25-year-old joined the U's from last summer and started the 2012/13 season as their first-choice stopper.

However, he fell out of favour around the turn of the year and featured just once for them in 2013.

He spent a spell on loan at towards the back end of the campaign and has now left the Abbey by mutual consent and linked up with Cambridge's Conference Premier rivals Grimsby.

A statement on the Cambridge United website said: “Cambridge United would like to thank Jonathan for his service to the club and wish him well for the future.”

The former keeper goes straight into the Mariners' squad for their friendly with Hull City on Friday evening.
