SOUTHPORT boss Alan Wright has hailed the arrival of former Blackpool midfielder Brice Irie-Bi.
The 21-year-old, who spent time on the books of Lille as a youngster, was released by the Tangerines in December last year and spent pre-season on trial with newly-promoted Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Wright has been monitoring his movements over the last few months and says he is happy to have been able to bring him to Haig Avenue.
Speaking to the club’s website, the former Aston Villa full-back said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign Brice. I’ve been tracking his progress and keeping in touch with him throughout the summer.
“I have had to be patient and it has been well worth it. Brice will be getting very competitive experience in the Skrill Premier which I believe will benefit him greatly as he embarks on a very promising career while his presence will strengthen our squad.”
Southport, who are currently seventh in the Skrill Premier, face 21st-placed Gateshead on Saturday.
