Players are wanted to help break the world record for the longest ever football match at Lancing College in May.
The current world record stands at four-and-a-half days and organisers are now looking for applicants to start a five-month training programme to prepare players both mentally and physically for the challenge.
Teams will play on a full-sized pitch, with two standard squads of 18 players.
Michael Standing is helping to organise the event. He told The NLP: “It will be a tremendous physical and mental challenge for all the players, and we are looking for keen, motivated and committed individuals to join us on this challenge.
“We will rotate 11 players and 7 subs throughout the game, and players cannot leave the venue for the duration unless for medical treatment. They will also eat and sleep next to the pitch.
“The time to beat is 105 hours and if we are successful it will be the third time that a match has been played for over 100 hours in the UK.”
The game will be played in memory of Matt Chaplain, a keen footballer from Worthing who tragically died of cardiac arrest, aged 38, with all proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation.
The event is a fantastic initiative for a brilliant cause and any corporate sponsors would also be greatly appreciated.

The NLP wishes everyone involved with the event the best of luck in their attempts to break the record!
