STOURBRIDGE have received a shot in the arm in their bid for Evo-Stik NPL Premier promotion after midfielder Tom Tonks returned from AFC Telford United.

Tonks, who joined the Glassboys from local rivals Halesowen Town in the summer, played a big part in the first half of the club’s season, as they went on impressive FA Cup and Trophy runs.

The combative midfielder, also known for his dangerous long throw, played 29 times for Stourbridge before leaving for National League North side Telford in December.

However, after just six starts and two substitute appearances, Tonks has decided to return to Amblecote after spending the past few weeks on Telford’s bench.

Gary Hackett’s side are sixth in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier with games in hand after Monday night’s 4-1 win against Matlock Town – their seventh straight league victory.

Tonks’ return comes just days after the arrival of Australian-born midfielder Robert Paratore. The 20-year-old former Leicester, Barwell, AFC Fylde and Stamford man left Telford in December.
