Jermaine Pennant makes U-turn and accepts pay cut to rejoin Billericay

The 34-year-old is staying put.

Former Arsenal and Liverpool star Jermaine Pennant has returned to big-spending Billericay Town just 24 hours after leaving the Bostik Premier leaders.
The ex-Premier League winger struggled to get into the team and owner Glenn Tamplin couldn’t justify the 34-year-old’s wages, but now Pennant has taken a pay cut to stay at the club.

Former West Ham and Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky left Billericay last month to focus on “other commitments” and Tamplin says more wage cuts will happen.
He told the Evening Echo: “I want to make the club sustainable.
“I am re-negotiating contracts for next year and the players will not be on what they are on this year.
“So to be fair to Jermaine he has agreed to take a wage cut and that is massive. He wants to be a Billericay player.”
