Kevin Horlock is determined not to let the departure of his two star players derail Maldon & Tiptree’s promotion bid – he’s replaced them with no fewer than SIX new signings!
The former West Ham and Manchester City midfielder had to say goodbye to 34-goal top scorer Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and captain Ryan Gondoh, who were both snapped up by League 2 Colchester United last week on 18-month deals.
But Horlock has moved swiftly to fill the void by bringing in another half-a-dozen players to help the Jammers maintain their Bostik North title bid – and he’s scoured the globe to find the right men!
To help cover the loss of free-scoring Ogedi-Uzokwe, Horlock has brought back young striker Eoin McKeown for a second loan spell from Colchester having recently broken into the first-team reckoning.
He is joined in the Jammers ranks by two players who have arrived from Finnish side Atlantis – former Fisher Athletic and Welling United defensive midfielder Clyde Ondo-Ikpo and ex-Hayes & Yeading attacker Manny Katundu.
Horlock has also brought in a new goalkeeper, former Canvey Island, Chelmsford City and Thurrock stopper Tim Brown, and another defensive midfielder in much-travelled Olu Quadri, from Evo-Stik South East side Arlesey Town.
And completing the sextuple of arrivals is 6ft 5in ball-player Derek Ubah, who joins from second-tier Luxemburg side CS Grevenmacher.
The 21-year-old has previously featured for Altrincham, Boston United and Peacehaven & Telcombe.
