Basildon United sack new boss after his first match!

New Basildon United boss Glen Kendall has been sacked after a single match in charge of the BetVictor Isthmian League’s Bees, Saturday’s 6-1 thrashing at home to Hornchurch in the Buildbase FA Trophy.
Appointed only five days ago as the successor to John Sussex, vice-chairman Lee Connor confirmed the exit of Kendall, pictured, and his backroom staff on Sunday in an interview with the Basildon Echo.
It was later retweeted by the club’s official Twitter account after they missed out on a first ever appearance in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy following the heavy defeat at the hands of Isthmian Premier Premier Divsion high-flyers Hornchurch.

Connor said: “We have had second thoughts and feel decisions were made far too quickly on the appointment of Glen Kendall and his management team.
“Therefore, Glen and his team have been relieved of their duties and the club will not be making any rash decisions for the time being.
“I will be stepping up as interim manager until a permanent appointment is made.”
Kendall was named on head coach at The Cousins Stadium last Wednesday morning following the weekend departure of Sussex with the Bees second from bottom in the Isthmian League North Division table.
Kendall, who also played oversees in Poland and Thailand as a semi-pro, kicked off his managerial career in 2014 in Thailand.
Since returning to England, he’d guided both Clapton and Leyton Athletic in the Essex Senior League and also enjoyed a stint as assistant manager at Newbury Forest.
He had named Bulent Caliskan as his number two and Email Jonathan as the Essex club’s new sports psychologist.
Basildon United parted company with three managers last season before the arrival of Sussex in March as the successor to Neil Blackburn. He guided the Bees past Chesham in the FA Trophy before resigning despite being asked to carry on by the club.
