JORDAN Catnott wants to wake “sleeping giant” Shirebrook Town after being appointed as manager after a three-year absence from the game.

At the Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One side, he replaces Simon Dixon and Steve Bates. As a player, Catnott began with Chesterfield and helped Alfreton Town win the Blue Square North a decade ago. He has managed Heanor Town, Glapwell, FC Bolsover, Maltby Main and Retford United.

He said: “My main aim is to try and wake up the sleeping giant that is Shirebrook, who I consider to be a massive club at this level. I want to instill a winning mentality.’’

Former colleague Mark Higginbotham, who previously managed Boynton Sports, is his number two. Chairman Martin Baxter said: ‘’We are delighted to have Jordan and his coaching staff at the club. He has a desire to prove once again that he is more than capable of managing at this level.’’
