Worthing appoint Chris Agutter as new manager

Worthing appoint

Chris Agutter has become new permanent manager of National League South side Worthing, replacing interim boss Aarran Racine.

Racine remains at the club as assistant manager. The former centre-back oversaw a strong finish to the 2023/24 campaign following Adam Hinshelwood’s move to York City. The Rebels finished 3rd, scoring 104 goals in 46 games, but missed out in the Promotion Final to Braintree Town.

Agutter led Hastings United to 7th

He’s also enjoyed coaching stints in the academies of Brighton, Eastbourne and Stevenage. Agutter will also oversee the Academy pathway in his new role.

In a statement on the club’s official website, chairman Barry Hunter said:

“We received interest from a number of impressive candidates and ultimately the board were unanimous in Chris’ appointment – we’re delighted he’ll be joining us and are confident he’ll continue to push the club forward.

“The decision was made easier having set out a clear list of specific and unconditional criteria as part of a thorough, objective, process.”

Worthing has also confirmed that the redevelopment work at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium will continue this summer. The North Stand terrace will be rebuilt with a covered terrace stretching the length of the pitch.
