Danny Scopes says Billericay Town will fully embrace their 540-mile trip north to play Spennymoor Town.

Frankie Merrifield’s double saw the Isthmian Premier Blues beat Hednesford Town 2-0 in Tuesday night’s replay.

The quirk of the fourth round qualifying draw – a middle point between two clubs replaying determined placement in the northern or southern section – means a long trip to Spennymoor.

“It’s the FA Cup and if you want to do well in it sometimes you have to travel a bit, go to different places and beat teams from higher divisions to get to that first round proper,” Scopes told The NLP.

“We’ll go up on the Friday, which is good because it will give us the best opportunity to give the best account of ourselves on the day.

“We’ll stay about an hour from the ground to give us a little bit of driving which makes it more realistic.

“As for the football, they are up near the top in National North and are a good side. We’d like to think we’ll be ready to give a good account of ourselves.”
