HUGHES’ LATE HIT LIFTS THE SAINTS

RHYS HUGHES sent champions The New Saints to the top of the Novira Cymru Premier table with an 88th-minute strike that ended Barry Town United’s six-match unbeaten record.
The summer signing from Connah’s Quay Nomads notched his fourth goal in six league outings as he found a way to unpick the Barry defence.
The visitors twice had the ball in the back of the TNS goal but Michael George’s eighth minute effort was ruled out for offside and then Elliott Dugan had his 37th minute shot chalked off for a foul in the build-up.
