National League North club Darlington have confirmed the appointment of Craig Elliott as their new manager just hours after he left his role at Step 4 club Bradford Park Avenue.
The 48-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half year deal at Blackwell Meadows before he was officially unveiled as permanent successor to former Quakers boss Steve Watson on Friday evening following what Darlo described as ‘extensive search and selection process’.
Watson’s former assistant Terry Mitchell will remain with the club and will remain in his position as Elliott’s reign gets underway.
The former Boston United and Buxton boss will attend Tuesday night’s home game against National League North rivals Oxford City.

Great opportunity
The new manager in charge has revealed Darlington’s ambition were enough to tempt him to accept their offer.
He told the Darlo website: “I have kept a clear eye on Darlington in recent years, and I think this is a great opportunity.
“They’re a big club with great support, and they want to keep moving forward. Just like me, the club is very ambitious.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting everybody and getting a feel of the club.
“I can assure everyone that I will work very hard and honestly to help the club climb the table.”
Quakers chairman David Johnston said: “I am delighted to welcome Craig to the club.
“He has proven experience at this level and I look forward to working with him to turn our season around.”

Attention
Elliott leaves behind a Bradford Park Avenue side that are sitting at the top of the Northern Premier League East Division.
The final game of his two-year reign came on Tuesday night when second-half goals from Robbie Fox and Marcus Carver stretched their unbeaten run to 16 games.
The club confirmed that they are still discussing the terms of Elliott’s departure with Darlington.
Sporting and executive director Thomas McStravick said: “Although we are disappointed to see Craig leave, it is important to recognise when you’re successful, interest will come your way for your key assets.
“Our focus continues to be, to take the club forward, and our goal remains the same; promotion.”
Assistant manager Ryan Toulson and academy director Craig Large will take charge of the team for Saturday’s home game with fellow promotion contenders Blyth Spartans
However, their former manager will now focus his attention on trying to help his new club avoid dropping into the NPL Premier Division, rather than securing promotion into Step 3.
