Hayes & Yeading United Boss Building For Next Term

NEW manager Tony O'Driscoll says his focus is on building a squad for next season rather than trying to win promotion this term.

O'Driscoll was appointed permanent boss of the Conference South club this week following a four-week spell in caretaker charge.

His side currently lie ninth in the division, just seven points off a play-off place, but O'Driscoll's emphasis is on ensuring he has a title-challenging team in place for 2013/14.

Speaking to the Gazette, he said: “I want to build a side for next season; that's the plan and that's what we're going to do.

“To be honest, that's what we've been saying all season.

“We're playing away from our home at and we've never been under pressure to go up this year.

“The idea was to get a nucleus in place. What we don't want to do is to get to the end of the season and have a few players leave.

“I've told all of the players that they will get a chance and it's down to them to take it. If they don't take the chance they'll be out the door. It's very simple.”
