MET POLICE are hoping the appointment of veteran forward Jon Nurse as first team coach will strengthen the pathway from the club's youth teams.
The Met's youth have already made headlines this season with their stunning win at Burnley in the FA Youth Cup third round.
Though the successful U18s are managed by Stuart Searle, Nurse is the head coach of the Met's youth section from U7s to U16s and the links throughout the club are sure to be continued following Nurse's new appointment.
First team manager Jim Cooper moved quickly to hand Nurse the job after Phil Cramp stepped down from his role to take a break from football.
The former Barbados international has plenty of Non-League experience and served as player-coach at Conference champions Barnet last season.
Boss Cooper said: “We are delighted to announce that we have made arrangements to appoint Jon Nurse as first team coach after the recent resignation of Phil Cramp.
“Phil has been with the club for seven years, he was part of the reserve management team prior to stepping up to the first team as coach. He will be missed by all at the club.
“Jon will also be available to provide cover as a player as he is still registered with us. Other strong candidates were considered however, as Jon is involved with the Met Police youth set up and has considerable experience as a coach from his time with Barnet, we feel he was the perfect replacement.”
