Former Horsham Skipper Ian Varley Seeks New Challenge

Ian Varley (centre)

CAPTAIN Ian Varley has left Ryman South side – and hinted he may be ready to start working his way up the managerial ladder.

The 29-year-old defender left the Hornets after recently losing his place in the stating side and is now looking to get straight back into the game as either a player or a manager.

Varley made 42 appearances for Sussex side in trouble times as they were relegated from the Ryman Premier last season and have struggled to get off to a good start this campaign.

He told : “Horsham are a fantastic club with great people and great fans but I just felt the time was right to move on.

“Despite being club captain I had been in and out of the team in recent weeks for no reason and add to that I was travelling down from Kent three times a week, I decided it was time to leave.

“I’m looking at getting back into it as soon as possible either as a player or starting a managerial career.”
