Step 3 and 4 – Picks for the weekend

We take a brief look ahead to Bognor Regis vs Worthing and Corby Town vs Peterborough Sports.

Step

Bognor Regis Town vs Worthing (Bostik Premier League)
The play-off battle will take another turn in the Bostik League this weekend when 7th placed Bognor Regis face off against a Worthing side who are currently sitting in 5th.
After suffering a blip in form at the turn of the year, Worthing returned to winning ways with a bang two weeks ago when they hit the headlines with a stunning 9-1 victory over relegation threatened Harlow Town.
The Rebels will be seeking revenge tomorrow after falling to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Bognor earlier in the season.
Despite being two points outside of the play-off positions, Bognor will still be holding out hope of making an instant return to Step 2.
However, if they are to achieve this Jack Pearce’s side must quickly bounce back from the last two weeks, which has seen them fail to score and fall to a damaging 4-0 home defeat to promotion rivals Haringey Borough.
Corby Town vs Peterborough Sports (Southern League Division One Central)

Peterborough Sports travel to Corby Town tomorrow in a crunch battle in the upper echelons of Step 4.

Jimmy Dean’s Peterborough side are currently in the driving seat in the Southern League Division One Central Title race despite their nine match winning run ending at Bromsgrove Sporting last weekend.

The result led to Bromsgrove leapfrogging Sports at the top of the table but the second placed side have a crucial three games in hand, with just a two point deficit to make up.

Dean’s side will be incredibly difficult to break down tomorrow as they have by far the best defensive record in the division, having conceded just 20 times in their 26 games.

Corby meanwhile are sitting firmly in the play-off positions and also come into tomorrow’s game on a superb run of form having picked up wins in nine of their last eleven league games.

The Steelmen are now four points off the top of the table however and will need to be firing on all cylinders if they are to make a late push to join the title race.
