Dave Challinor hails Hartlepool supporters after FA Cup win at Yeovil

manager Dave Challinor praised the club's ‘mad' fans for making a 660-mile round trip for the second time in four days.

Their efforts were rewarded as 101 shivered in Somerset on Tuesday night to see the Pools recover from a goal down to beat 4-1 in the FA Cup 1st Round.

Luke James, Gavan Holohan, Nicke Kabamba and a Gime Toure penalty provided Challinor with a maiden win in charge, after Lawson D'Ath had given the Glovers a third minute lead.

“I said yesterday that anyone who travelled here must be slightly mad and 101 of them is just amazing,” Challinor told the Hartlepool Mail.

“For them to give up their time and money to come all this way to support us on a Tuesday evening in Yeovil and be part of what is a special win for us is massively pleasing.

“What I wanted to see was the characteristics required to win a game of and the players showed that in spades.

“Hopefully this is a good start for the players so that they can keep a run going, keep getting goals and keep pushing each other.”

More traveling is required for the Pools faithful – they make the trip back down south to on Saturday and have been drawn away to either Exeter City or Cambridge United in the next round of the , which takes place on the weekend of November 30.
