I’M walking away from all the troubles in my life. Of course I’m not, but the concept was recently discussed in response to the mysterious case of Big Al. Part of the furniture at Chester FC’s Deva Stadium, he has been stood to my right on The Harry McNally Terrace more or less since the ground was built.
Rain or shine, top or bottom of the league, Al was always there, resplendent in replica kit, gently offering advice to referees. Then one day he wasn’t.
