LEGG’S GOAL GIVES CAREY ROUTE HOME

HASTINGS United boss Lee Carey is no stranger to the FA Cup, having skippered the U’s in a third-round tie away to Middlesborough in 2012, so a winning start to the competition this year was always likely.
Both sides went into the game with the mentality to get at the opposition and put the defences under pressure. So it was a surprise that we had to wait until the 66th minute for the game’s only goal.
Freddie Legg received a poor clearance before skipping past two defenders and slotting the ball in the corner of the net.
