BRETT Lovell has been given his first managerial appointment by Northern Counties East Premier Division side Penistone Church following the shock resignation of boss Ian Richards.
Lovell, who has appeared in 260 games for Penistone, has become player-manager with Stephen Lenthall as his assistant and Ryan Johnson as first team coach.
Richards has rejoined his former club Stockbridge Park Steels as manager with striker Andrew Ring also arriving from Penistone as his number two.
Ring had been Penistone’s top scorer over the past seven seasons.
