BURGESS HILL TOWN chairman Kevin Newell believes the club have “every chance” of progressing up the Pyramid after manager Ian Chapman signed a two-year contract extension.

Chapmans's current deal was due to run out at the end of next season but that has now been extended for another two years as the Hillians plan ahead.

Since taking over at the end of the 2012-13 season, Chapman has turned the club around, earning promotion from the Ryman South as champions in 2014-15.

The Hillians endured a tough debut campaign in the Ryman Premier, ended up finishing fourth bottom but were reprieved from the drop due to 's demotion.

Chapman, who also serves as head of operations, oversees the youth side at the club and chairman Newell is delighted the boss has committed his future.

He told the Hillians' website: “This is a very positive development for the progress of our football club.

“Since Ian has been at the Green Elephants Stadium, the club has progressed in leaps and bounds, and is now playing at the highest level in its history. We owe a great debt to Ian and his management team, whose experience and professionalism have brought the club this far.

“I know he has had numerous approaches from other clubs, so his commitment to Burgess Hill Town is really pleasing and I'm sure he will continue to add a new dimension to our footballing progress for the benefit of the players and supporters alike.

“We know it takes time to climb the football Pyramid but with Ian at the helm I believe we have every chance of doing so.”
