‘Be mature’ over Bennett switch

His temporary move to the north-east includes a recall clause, which becomes available any time after 28 days.

STOCKPORT County’s Director of Simon Wilson has called for “maturity” after striker Richie Bennett joined promotion rivals on loan until the end of the season.

Bennett, 30, joined County from Port Vale last March but has scored just four goals in 31 appearances.

His temporary move to the north-east includes a recall clause, which becomes available any time after 28 days.

Wilson said: “Richie has unfortunately found himself out of the team recently and expressed an interest in gaining playing time.

“This type of situation requires a bit of maturity from all involved and although it is competitive sport it is still about people and relationships.

“Hartlepool will provide a good environment for Richie to find his mojo.”
