Captain Dawson creates history

MACCLESFIELD FC reached the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time as Paul Dawson’s first-half strike edged them past Southern Premier League Central Division side Stamford.
The Silkmen came closest to opening the scoring inside five minutes when Danny Elliott hit the underside of the crossbar from close range.
At the other end, however, Stamford’s Kai Tongue was causing problems, bursting through on more than one occasion, only to be denied each time by Macc keeper Max Dearnley.
