Russ Wilcox sees expanding the play-offs down to seventh place as a positive move – although the Gainsborough Trinity chief jokes he wishes it had happened sooner!
The Holy Blues have finished seventh in the NPL Premier for the last two seasons running.
Step 3 and 4 divisions are following the National League’s play-off lead by moving to a six-team format from the traditional four participants.
It’s a change that has been widely seen as successful at Steps 1 and 2 for keeping seasons alive for longer and the crowds coming through the gate.
