■EASTBOURNE Town prevailed to edge past Bedfont Sports to reach the second-qualifying round of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history.
Khalid Simmo went close early on for Bedfont at The Saffrons, but his shot was blocked by JJ Walker before the winger forced Chris Winterton into a smart save at his near post.
The hosts looked to get on the front foot, but had to clear a shot off the line as Alfie Essex almost put the Isthmian League South Central side in front.
