Gateshead’s registration

Gateshead FC have officially had a FIFA-imposed registration embargo lifted, allowing them to register their new summer acquisitions ahead of the 2025/26 National League campaign.

Chairman Bernard McWilliams confirmed that official communication from FIFA has been received, clearing the way for fresh signings.

The news provides much-needed clarity and momentum following a turbulent off-season that also included a string of departures.

The hard-hit ban, imposed in early June, arose from a historic transfer issue involving Harrison Clark’s summer 2023 move.

Freedom

However, Gateshead has been given the freedom to register its new signings and future additions, the club confirmed via X.

Adding his thoughts, McWilliams said: “I mentioned at the fans’ talk in last Thursday that we were close to having the ban lifted, and I am now pleased to say that official communication has been received from FIFA and we are all good to go with registering our new summer signings.

“I would like to thank supporters for their patience on this matter, and we can now push on with preparations for the 2025/26 season.”

The club can now step up preparations for the National League season under new manager Alun Armstrong.

Recent signings such as full-backs Callum Johnson and David Ferguson can now be registered.
