SUPERSUB Dan Maguire scored the winner with his first touch as Blyth Spartans further frustrated an Alfreton side who were denied at least one strong claim for a penalty.
Maguire struck 11 minutes from time to take Blyth further clear of the relegation places.
A scrappy but entertaining first half at the Impact Arena saw plenty of chances with the majority falling to the home side, but the better ones for the visitors.
